Derek “Dice” Nguyen
An award-winning filmmaker featured at Cannes, Panavision, and Variety, Derek “Dice” Nguyen blends magical realism with heartfelt narratives. With a focus on art design and nostalgia, his colorful storytelling shines in music videos and branded content.
From serving as Head of Production for Lamborghini, Porsche, and McLaren Philadelphia to directing for Directors Think Tank in Southeast Asia, Derek has helmed dozens of films, music videos, and campaigns. Passionate about underrepresented stories, his work highlights Vietnamese-American immigrants (Hermes: A Legacy of Us), Black girls (Black Girl Magic), and the LGBTQIA+ community (HausLabs: The Root of Kindness).
His short Everything and Nothing at All has screened at Academy Award-qualifying festivals, and his campaign Chasing Meaning for Paramount and MTV’s AAPI Heritage Month aired nationally. Recognized by SHOOT’s New Directors Showcase, the DGA, the Commercial Director Diversity Program, and the Shiny Awards, Derek collects and shares stories from around the world, always finding beauty in the unexpected.
